Alexander Swart Property, the newly independent, fast growing Northern Suburbs estate agency, has always prided itself on its youthful, vigorous image. The Director, Rowan Alexander, is himself only 30 years old and, although the agency has its fair share of highly experienced agents who have been in the industry for many years, the average age of the selling staff is under 40.
Wian Ingram, who in 2017 took the coveted prize of Brand Ambassador, is only 27 and has never been employed by anyone else because while still a student studying marketing in Stellenbosch he joined what is now Alexander Swart Property to do his one year practical training – and was, he says, “immediately hooked”.
“I realised very quickly that this could be a career in which both the emotional and the financial rewards could be way above the norm,” he said. “If you enjoy working with and being helpful to people this can be a very satisfying profession.”
Last year Wian was placed third overall in the agency’s total sales competition and also took the award for the most dedicated show house agent. However, the award of Brand Ambassador is by far the most prestigious in the Alexander Swart Property group and he is proud to have achieved this.
This year Wian is striving to gain the number one spot in the sales competition and if his performance so far is any indication (which it probably is), he may well take this prize. In the first eleven weeks of this year he sold 10 homes in Brackenfell and Kraaifontein, with a total value of R14,513,000.
“This is an impressive performance,” said Rowan Alexander. “What makes it particularly outstanding is that these homes sold on average within 18 days of being listed and within an average of 97,8% of the asking price. Three, in fact, were sold at full asking price and I can assure you that not one of them was under-priced. There are very few agents in South Africa today who could report similar figures.”
Alexander added that Ingram’s achievements also show the value of the sole mandate system.
“I do not believe that any homes sold on the open mandate system could have fared so well – and it should come as no surprise to those who know the residential estate world that Wian is being highly recommended to other clients by those whom he has already helped.”
